On February 12, 1861, his 52nd birthday, President-Elect Abraham Lincoln visited Cincinnati on his way to Washington D. C. for his inauguration. When Lincoln arrived by train, he was greeted by thousands of cheering Cincinnatians and booming cannons on the riverbanks. A member of the reception committee wore this ribbon.
