Temporary Library Closure
Beginning Feb. 1, 2016, the Cincinnati History Library & Archives will close to the public to facilitate the renovation of historic Union Terminal. As a result, guests will be unable to visit the Cincinnati History Library but can still access the library’s online catalog, digital journals and other local history resources on this website
Limited service via telephone and email will resume in June 2016 but the library will remain closed to the public throughout the duration of the renovation project.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause but hope that you will explore our online resources to support your research needs. We look forward to seeing you in the library again when the renovation project is completed.
Please visit this website for updates and additional information.
Moratorium on Loan Requests and Donations
As part of the renovation project, we need to impose a moratorium on loan requests and donations to our collections until further notice. This is necessary in order to allow our curatorial staff to focus on renovation related collections issues and to properly protect and preserve the existing collections during this complex project. We ask donors to be patient and hold on to their treasures until this exciting renovation project is complete.
Moratorium on Reproduction Requests
Beginning on January 15, 2016, the Cincinnati History Library and Archives will need to impose a moratorium on reproduction requests from our Manuscripts, Printed Works, Photographs and Prints, and Moving Image and Sound Recording collections. This is necessary in order to allow our curatorial staff to focus on renovation related collections issues and to properly protect and preserve the existing collections during this complex project. We ask patrons to be patient and hold on to their request until we are able to resume taking orders. Please check our website for updates about when reproduction services will be offered again.
