Photocopying of materials by patrons is prohibited. These items may not be photocopied: bound newspapers, altases, bound city directories, rare books and oversized maps.
Items deemed suitable for photocopying with be processed by the staff of the Cincinnati Historical Society Library. A photocopy request form must be completed and handed to the reference staff by 4:15 P.M. An effort will be made to complete orders on the same day, but no guarantees are made. Postage for large copy orders that need to be mailed will be charged to the patron. All charges must be paid before the patron leaves the Library.
A researcher may request up to a maximum of 125 photocopies per day.
Photocopying manuscripts and archival materials causes damage to the documents and is cumulative and irreversible. Please make an effort to read the documents and take notes from them before requesting photocopies. We must ask you to limit the number of photocopies to 125 copies per day from all sources (books, manuscripts, etc.). If you are here more than one day, the maximum number of copies you may request from a manuscript collection is 250 copies or 50% of the collection whichever is less in order to protect our collections.

Copyright Restrictions Collections or individual items may be protected by copyright law (Title 17, United States Code). Libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction provided that the photocopy or reproduction is not used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research. If a researcher makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of fair use, that researcher may be liable for copyright infringement.
This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in the judgment of the staff, fulfillment of the order would violate copyright law.
